What made you apply and choose Swedbank's trainee program?
I studied for a Master of Science in Computer Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where I developed a great interest in finance, data analysis and statistics. Swedbank's trainee program attracted me because it offered the opportunity to try out different roles and gain a broad experience of the bank's operations. That's why I chose to apply – the opportunity to develop in different areas felt extremely valuable.
What did you get to do during your time as a trainee?
During the program, I had the privilege of rotating between different departments, which gave me an in-depth insight into how the bank works. I spent two months in each department and got to know many fantastic colleagues from different parts of the business, which both broadened my knowledge and created valuable contacts.
What did the program structure look like?
The program was designed for participants to begin in the department where they would eventually spend their future service after ten months. Participants then rotated through different departments to gain a holistic view of the bank, its structure, and its various functions. This setup provided a comprehensive understanding of the business as a whole.
Was there anything that surprised you during the program? What did you think was the most fun?
The most rewarding thing about the program was really the learning – both about the bank, programming and the professional environment. A highlight was also the opportunity to have lunch with some of the bank's management. It was inspiring to hear about their career paths and gain insight into their perspectives on the bank's future.
What are you most looking forward to during your upcoming time at the bank?
I am really looking forward to growing into a senior role. After all the rotations, it feels exciting to return to the department where I started and to have a greater responsibility. I look forward to continuing to learn and develop within the bank.
Do you have any advice or messages for those who are considering applying to the program?
If you have an interest in finance and analysis, this is a program I highly recommend. Few companies offer such a diverse and educational opportunity. The program is a great chance to gain insight into the banking world, build knowledge, and make valuable contacts for the future.
